Hello. My name is Mary Ellen. I received my first miniature house on Christmas 1977.
My family gave me a small house to see if I would be interested in the hobby. Was I ever!
I have been working and enjoying this hobby for all these years. My main house is a replica of the President's house at William and Mary College in Williamsburg, Virginia and is faithful to
the period of 1776 or before. This house won a first and a third place ribbon. The house features a separate outside kitchen room.
Several years ago I made a tea room which I dedicated to Agatha Christie.
A tea room similar to this one was featured in one of her movies,
"Nemesis."
One of my favorite projects is a roombox scene with two of Rachel Bonney's dolls.
It has a turn of the century kitchen, pantry and garden. One of the grandmothers was made in a workshop taught by Cat Wingler.
My mother's favorite is a pink and white nursery in a break-away box. I also made for her a library with shelves that her Hummel figures and Goebel birds.
At the moment, I am working on another nursery which I began at the 2001 North Carolina State Day.
The best part of this hobby is meeting terrific people willing to show and share with other miniaturists.
